A website with direct online booking and card payments for Hotel Monte Cristo — a 13th-century bishop's residence inside the walls of Kotor's Old Town, reborn as one of the bay's most intimate hotels.
Hotel Monte Cristo is a small boutique hotel with a restaurant in the heart of Kotor's Old Town, housed in a building whose history goes back to the 13th century. The hotel needed a website that conveys that atmosphere — stone, history and the bay — and, just as importantly, takes bookings directly instead of leaving every guest to booking platforms and their commissions.
We built the site in Next.js with React and TypeScript. The design is editorial and calm: a full-screen video hero, serif typography and large photographs of the rooms, restaurant and the town. Each of the six room types has its own page with a gallery, size, bed type and price, and the whole site works in both English and Montenegrin.
Behind the site is a PostgreSQL backend with real booking logic: availability is checked for the selected dates, the guest pays online by card through the Monri gateway, and the reservation lands in a protected admin panel where the hotel tracks bookings, changes their status and sees monthly bookings and revenue.
Hotel Monte Cristo now has a website that matches the character of the house and sells rooms directly: guests choose a room, see availability, pay by card and get a confirmed booking — no intermediaries. The site is live at hotelmontecristo.me.
